Equipment hut and power generating hut taken from the transcontinental railway line, View of Cook settlement take from the perimeter of radial counterpoise and showing the rotating Yagi aerial for D/F measurement of noise, A closer view of the equipment hut and team engaged on establishment of noise measuring centre. Second from the left is Mr R.T Disney from N.B.S Radio Section Boulder USA in charge of field work for this Noise Measuring project.

Gibbs 28th August 1959. 3/4 photographs: No.1 shows the raiodsonde-radar wind ground installation in operation during a combined radiosonde with finding ascent, no.2 shows inflation of the ballook with radar targets. (missing no.3) no.3 shows release of balloon with parachute radar target adn radiosonde attached, no.4 shows sastrugi on the Antarctic ice cap formed by strong katabatic winds.
